Objectives:
The project aims to satisfy the growing needs for electricity generation, transmission and distribution services, and water production and transport to support the housing, industrial, development and investment projects implemented by the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields, through the establishment of a new control center to operate and monitor the electricity and water networks and transform the existing control center into a backup center for use in emergency conditions.
Project Description:
The project, which is expected to be completed at the end of the second quarter of 2024, includes building a modern control center instead of the current center which was built at the beginning of the eighties of the last century and no longer meets the current requirements after several expansions in the networks. The project includes transforming the current control center into a center for use in emergency cases when the main center is down. The project includes the following components:
- SCADA Works:Includes the supply and installation of data collection equipment and software and control of the operation of the electricity and water networks, and the communications network, including the fiber-optic network, in addition to the maintenance of the SCADA system for three years.
- Civil Works:Includes the engineering design and implementation of the necessary works for the construction of the new control center building, and the rehabilitation of the current control center building, in the Riffa area, to be used as an emergency control center.
- Technical and Consulting Services:Includes designing SCADA works, architectural design of the control center building, preparing and analyzing tender documents, assisting in bid analysis and contracting, and supervising project implementation.
Project Financing:
The Arab Fund’s loan covers 55.0% of the total project costs. The Bahraini government will cover the remaining cost of the project and any additional project cost that may arise.
