Agreement of AFESD Establishment
The Agreement Establishing the Arab Fund was adopted by the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States on 16 May 1968. The General Secretariat of the Arab League declared the Agreement effective as of 18 December 1971. The first meeting of the Board of Governors took place on 6 February 1972 and operations commenced early in 1974.
The Agreement, in its only original form written in Arabic, was signed in Cairo and kept with the Secretariat of the Arab League, and a single copy of the original was sent to each member country, or those that acceded to it.
