The Arab Fund has announced the signing of two new financing agreements with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, totaling KWD 32 million. These agreements aim to strengthen the developmental partnership, support critical infrastructure, and improve public access to essential services, including road networks and water supply.

Key Terms of the Agreements:

Roads Sector (KWD 20 million): Financing for a strategic road project with a total length exceeding 120 km divided into two phases. The first phase connects the cities of Tintane and Touil via Ain Varba, while the second phase includes a 45 km road extending between R'Kiz and El Bezoul in the Tekane district. This project will enhance road connectivity, end the isolation of rural areas, and facilitate the movement of people and goods. It will also stimulate local economic activity, particularly in regions with high agricultural and developmental potential.

Water Sector (KWD 12 million): This agreement aims to bolster the storage, pumping, and transmission capacities of potable water in the capital, Nouakchott. The project involves the transfer of 75,000 cubic meters of water to meet the capital’s drinking water demands, improve service quality, and enhance the operational efficiency of storage and pumping facilities. These efforts are designed to strengthen water security and support the government’s initiatives to improve livelihoods.
