Arab Fund and Government of Jordan Sign agreement to support National Water Carrier Project

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development signed a financing agreement with the government of Jordan to support the National Water Carrier Project, part of efforts to strengthen development cooperation and support the country’s development priorities.
The agreement, with a value of 58 million Kuwaiti dinars (equivalent to around US$189 million) was signed during a meeting hosted by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, with Arab Fund's Director General and Chairman of the Board, Fawzi Yousef Alhunaif, and his accompanying delegation.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Abdel Hakim Shibli, and Sufyan Bataineh, Director-General of the National Electric Power Company on behalf of the Jordanian government, and by Fawzi Yousef Alhunaif, in his capacity as Arab Fund's Director General and Chairman of the Board. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh.
The funding will support the electricity supply component of the National Water Carrier Project, ensuring a stable and secure power source for its facilities. It will also enhance the capacity of Jordan’s national grid to integrate additional electricity generation, including renewable energy.
