Senior Policy Forum on Sovereign Debt Resolution Frameworks

EVENT SUMMARY
The Senior Policy Forum (SPF) will bring together senior policymakers from ministries of finance and economy, central banks, and debt management offices—representing both creditor and debtor countries across the Arab region—to discuss the sovereign debt architecture, key Fund policies on sovereign debt restructuring, and emerging frameworks for dealing with high sovereign debt burdens and arrears in Arab countries. The SPF will adopt a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, leveraging diverse expertise in macroeconomic, legal, financial sector, and policy issues. It is organized by the IMF’s Regional Office in Riyadh (ROR) in partnership with the IMF’s Center for Economics and Finance (CEF) and hosted by the AFESD. The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and other organizations of the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) are invited. The SPF will lay the ground for a possible ministerial-level policy forum in 2026.
