Years of environmental wear, misuse and neglect caused
deterioration of the final roofs.
Building materials were carefully analyzed and prepared for
compatibility and strength. Wood beams underwent load tests to ensure their
efficiency. In the confined spaces of Cairo, maneuvering the large timbers up to the
roof required special efforts by the work crew.
