Architectural Elements
The inner courtyard of the El Suhaymi House in Cairo, is
surrounded by rooms and overlooked by the Maqaad and Takhaboosh. The Mashrabeya is a
distinctive feature of the windows. The mediaeval home is being restored in the
Mamluk style under the auspices of the Arab Fund for Economic
Development as part of the Bayt El Suhaymi Area Documentation, Restoration,
Conservation and Development Project.
