While contributing to the overall design of the building to
exclude heat while retaining natural light, the atrium ceiling also hides functional
details that help the building run smoothly.
The small halogen lights, embedded in decorative gypsum boards
covering the steel gantry of the ceiling, help to contribute a consistent source of light.
And, when they are removed, cables can be lowered through the same holes and attached to
climbing hoists directly below the central atrium. This facilitates maintenance of all
areas of the Atrium and ceiling.
As daylight fades, huge chandeliers
automatically come on and shower the Central Atrium with light.
These chandeliers can be raised and lowered for cleaning, bulb replacement and
maintenance. |
