Wastewater Facilities in Al Junaid and North Jerash
On Wednesday 04/03/2020, a loan agreement was signed, in Kuwait, between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Fund, in the amount of KD 12 Million, to contribute to the financing of a project for wastewater facilities in the Al Junaid and North Jerash area in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The loan agreement was signed, on behalf of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, by H.E. Dr. Wissam Adnan Rabadi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. H.E. Mr. Abdlatif Yousef Al-Hamad, Director General/ Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund, signed the agreement on behalf of the Arab Fund.
The project aims at eliminating the environmental problems resulting from the use of septic tanks by inhabitants of the villages in the Al Junaid area in Ajloun governorate and a number of villages north of Jerash governorate, through the construction of the necessary wastewater facilities, in line with the population increase and the growing urbanization of these villages. The project will contribute to the improvement of the health and environmental conditions of the inhabitants, allow for the protection from pollution of the springs and groundwater, and provide treated wastewater for restricted agricultural uses.
The project includes the following main components:
- Construction of Wastewater Facilities.
- Technical Services.
The Arab Fund loan will carry interest of 2.5% per annum, and will be repayable over 30 years including a 7 year grace period.
The Water Authority will be the beneficiary of the loan, and will be responsible for the supervision and implementation of the project.
With the signing of this loan, the Arab Fund’s total contribution to financing projects in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan amounts to KD 626.15 Million.
