Objectives:
The project aims at developing health services in Palestine, through the extension of the medical facilities, the provision of more diagnostic and treatment services, and the provision of primary health care in rural areas.
Description:
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year 1999 and consists of the following main components:
1 - Civil Engineering Works:
Construction of a ground floor in Jenin Hospital with a total area of 3395m2 to house the reception office, operation theater, radiology section, and casualties section. This component also includes services facilities for air conditioning, hot water, and the generation of electricity.
- Construction of 16 health centers for primary health care in the following 16 cities and villages in the West Bank: Jenin, Yabad, Tobas, Kapatia, Baka- Sharkeya, Qalkeilia, Salfeet, Nablus, Yatma, Ramallah, Naaleen, Azzariya, Zaatara, Belt Fajjar, Terkoumia, Saerat. The total area of all centers will be about 10,000 m2 . Each large center, consisting of a two-story building, will have units for the provision of treatment and preventive services, radiology, and daytime observation services. Each small center, consisting of a one-story building, will have units for the provision of treatment services (general practice clinic and specialized clinics such as dentistry), preventive services (maternity, pediatrics and public health awareness), other support services (pharmacy and laboratory) and health education.
2 - Furniture:
Provision of the required furniture for the 16 centers.
3 - Technical Services:
Provision of the necessary consulting services to prepare the engineering designs, prepare and submit the tender documents, and perform the required supervision for the implementation of the various project components.
Financing:
The Arab Fund loan represents 100% of the total project cost
