Objectives:

The project aims at providing and securing electrical energy to industrial cities being built in Adra, Hasiah and Sheikh Najaar, in the provinces of Rif Dimashq , Hims, and Halab respectively, by installing three transformer stations rated 230/66/20 kV and another 3 transformer stations rated 66/20 kV. The project includes all civil and other preparation work, as well as the supply of all equipment necessary for T.S. installation, in addition to institutional support and staff training.

Description:

The project, which is expected to be completed during the first half of 2004, includes the following basic components: 

1-  The supply and Installation of all 230/66/20 kV transformer stations (TS): Each TS will be designed, manufactured and factory - tested, and comprises the following:

a- Outdoor 230 kV equipment and accessories.

b- Outdoor 66 kV equipment and accessories.

c- Indoor 20 kV equipment and accessories.

d- 230/66 kV Power transformers with total rating of 250 MVA, and 66/20 kV power transformers with total rating of 60 MVA, and earthing transformers at 66/0.4 and 20/0.4 kV.

e- Two sets of capacitor banks for Power factor correction and all needed accessories including measuring instruments and protective gear.

f-  All accessories necessary for the installation of such 230/66/20 kV transformer stations.

g- The supply of all design and engineering drawings required for civil and electrical work, in addition to  manuals for equipment installation.
 

2-  The supply and installation of all 66/20 kV transformer stations:

     Each transformer station will be designed, manufactured, and tested on-site, and comprises the following: 

a-    Out-door 66 kV equipment and accessories.

b-    In-door 20 kV equipment and accessories.

c-    66/20 kV power transformers rated 60 MVA each, in addition to 20/0.4 kV earthing transformers.

d-    Two sets of capacitor banks for power factor correction and all needed accessories including measuring instruments and protective gear.

e-    All accessories necessary for the installation of such 66/20 kV transformer stations.

f-     The supply of all design and engineering drawings required for civil and electrical work, in addition to manuals for equipment installation. 

3-  Institutional Support an Staff Training:

This covers training of the staff who will be involved in running all installations included in the proposed project, in addition to the provision of institutional support to the “General Establishment for Industrial Cities” in the field of computer systems and porograms in addition to other necessary information systems.

Financing:

The Arab Fund loan represents about 79% of the total project costs estimated at about KD 11.3 million. The Syrian government will finance the balance of project costs in addition to any future  cost increases.
