Objectives:

The project, which constitutes the second stage of the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital Project, aims to assist in completing the construction of the hospital and to provide modern medical services for the northern part of the country.

Description:

The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 1999, consists of:

  1. Construction Works: This includes all additional civil, mechanical and electrical works for the hospital compound made necessary by the design modification and the modern technical requirements.

  2. Fixed Medical Equipment: This includes supply and installation of specialized fixed medical equipment required for the hospital.

  3. Moveable Medical Equipment and Furniture: This includes the supply and installation of moveable medical and non-medical equipment required for the hospital and the purchasing of furniture for various sections and facilities of the hospital.

  4. Other Works: These include works to provide external services required for the hospital such as water supply, sewage treatment and connecting roads.

  5. Institutional Support: This component provides for the supply of computer facilities and related software, training of staff and employing specialized administration consultants.

  6. Consultancy Services: This includes the additional consultancy services required for the supervision and control of the construction works. It also includes preparing the design and specification of the ancillary works and supervising their implementation. 

Financing:

The Arab Fund loan constitutes 51% of the total project cost. Other loans are expected from the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund. The Jordanian government will finance the remaining costs.
