(b) detailed statement of proposed activity;

 (c) three references;

(d) curriculum vitae, and

(e) letter of invitation from a distinguished university.

All items must be translated into English. PLEASE TYPE OR PRINT LEGIBLY.

Item 1.

Give name exactly as it appears on official documents (for example, passport) with family (last) name underlined.

Item 6.

Write name of month, rather than numerical figure.

Item 8.

If divorced or widowed, indicate “single”.

Item 16.

Give a summary title of your proposed research and/or lecturing activities in approximately ten words. A detailed statement is to be supplied on page 5.

Item 17

If your affiliation with host university has been confirmed, list name and address of institution, dates of commencement of affiliation, and name of university official with whom you have corresponded.  A copy of your letter of invitation from the host institution must be attached to your application.

Item 17

If the academic program you propose requires affiliation with more than one institution, please explain and indicate the approximate length of time needed at each.  The Arab Fund advises against dual or multiple affiliations unless absolutely necessary because time is lost in finding housing and making other arrangements at each institution.

Item 22

Distinguish between refereed & unrefereed publications, local & international publications. Also distinguish between books, journals & conference proceedings. Hence the publications list should be divided into five sections which include only refereed scientific production: International Journal Articles, Local Journal Articles, Articles in International Conference Proceedings, Articles in local Conference Proceedings & Books. Papers published in unrefereed journals & conferences, those presented in conferences but did not appear in the proceedings; other published work & unpublished work should be presented in a separate section & should not appear in the publication list. For books, give title (underlined), publisher, country where it is published, year published and language in which it is published; for articles, give title (in quotation marks), journal or collection (underlined), volume, year published, country where it is published, and language in which it is published. Write your name (the author applying for the grant) in “Bold”. A complete listing of publications should be included in your curriculum vitae, which must be translated into English.  Use the standard American format for bibliographic citation.

Item 23

List names and addresses of three persons who know your work & personality.  At least two should be from outside your university.  Applications are not considered complete until reference letters are received.  These persons should be in a position to comment on your qualifications to carry out your proposed program in the host country and its value in relation to your research and teaching responsibilities in your home country.  A copy of the statement of proposed activity should be given to each reference.  Letters should be written on the report forms provided for this purpose and should be sent by the references directly to:

The Arab Fund Fellowships Program, The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, P. O. Box: 21923 SAFAT 13080, Kuwait, The State of Kuwait, Tel: 4959300; Fax: 4815750/60/70; e-mail: zamalat@arabfund.org

Item 25

Indicate as precisely as possible the period during which you will be available to carry out your proposed program in the host country.  It is recommended that you plan your program during the academic year of the host institution, (for example, September-May in the United States) when scholars in the host institution are more likely to be available to receive visiting scholars.
