Construction of Bridges on Classified Roads in Tunisia
A loan Agreement for 20 KD Million was signed in Rabat on the
18th of April 2017 to help finance the Construction of Bridges on Classified Roads.
The loan agreement was signed by H.E. Mohammad Alfadel AbdAlkaffi,
Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation, on behalf of
the Government to Republic of Tunisia, and by H.E. Mr. Abdlatif Yousef Al-Hamad,
Director General/ Chairman of the Board of Directions, on behalf of the Arab Fund.
The project aims at improving land transportation services and
traffic safety on roads in the Republic of Tunisia. This will be achieved through
the construction of a number of bridges on classified roads in most governorates.
The project will lead to enhancement of the classified road network efficiency,
alleviation of traffic bottlenecks, and improvement of traffic circulation.
The project includes the following main components:
- Execution of Works.
- Relocation of Utility Networks.
- Land Acquisition.
- Consultancy Services.
The loan will carry interest at 2.5% per annum and will be repayable
over 30 years, including a 5 year grace period.
The Ministry of Equipment, Housing and Spatial Planning will
be the beneficiary of the loan and will be responsible for implementing the project,
which expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2020.
With the signing of the loan, the Arab Fund’s total contribution
to financing projects in the Republic of Tunisia now amounts to KD 885.775 Million.
