Ficus Trees Placed in the Central Atrium

|
The fully grown forty year old ficus trees were flown in
from Holland. The trees were brought to the Arab Organizations Headquarters
Building on trucks from the airport. |
|
|
Because of their large size, a crane was used to hoist the trees.
Workers helped to position each tree as it was lowered into place. |
 |
Once in the Central Atrium, the trees are positioned
in gravel using hydroculture. Since there is no soil around the trees, their
nutrients are supplied in the water. Their under floor pots are regularly turned to
prevent any natural tilting towards the sunlight from the Glass Wall. |
